March 2020 - September 2020
Part-Time: Media Director
East Bay Calvary Church:
Non-denominational church located in Traverse City, Michigan.
Background
In 2020, I had the unique opportunity to apply my technical and creative skills to help EBCC adapt and respond to the COVID-19 pandemic. Among other things, this included setting up live-streaming capabilities, revitalizing the church’s website, and maintaining an active presence on social media.
Communications
From training camera operators to directing Sunday service livestreams, I was responsible for ensuring the church’s online presence and broadcasts were as seamless as possible for everyone at home.
This often meant acting as the voice of the church by responding to comments and messages on social channels and making sure announcements were always up-to-date on the website.

Sermon Series Branding
Creating branded graphics to accompany weekly sermons was also a core component of my frequent responsibilities. Social graphics, sermon slides, and intro bumper videos each provided opportunities to employ my creative skills in an impactful way.
I am particularly proud of the Multiply sermon series graphics. Later on, several churches requested permission to use these graphics in their own Sunday services.
Website, Podcast, & Social Media
Pivoting to an online-first model during the pandemic meant it was essential to keep church resources up-to-date. Immediately following any given Sunday service, I took the lead of doing just that.
Adding study notes from that day’s sermon to the website, publishing audio recordings of the service, and sharing photos and announcements to social media were all routine tasks I oversaw.

Legacy
While my tenure as part-time Media Director East Bay Calvary was relatively short, I am proud of the systems I helped put into place for my successor.
Sprinting from day one to create the infrastructure to successfully weather the COVID-19 pandemic, it was always understood that I would eventually transition to a full-time position elsewhere.
While grateful for the skills I learned, it was very rewarding to pass the baton knowing I helped create a solid base to build on.
